cloth diaper choice

so, i've been doing research on different kinds and brands of cloth diapers.  for months.  i've finally decided to go with bum genius because it seems like they are good quality, there are more positive reviews than not, and they seem pretty straightforward.  i finally narrowed it down 2 types of diapers; all in two and one-size pocket diapers.  because i am a visual person-----i have to see and touch-----i ordered one of each; a flip and a one-size pocket diaper from bum genius.  the one-size pocket diaper is just like a disposable, except cloth, it snaps or velcro's shut, it has 2 rows of snaps on the rise to adjust the size of the diaper, there is a pocket on the inside of the diaper to stuff the super absorbent insert.  the flip diaper is just a waterproof cover (not plastic like the old school cloth covers) and you just lay the absorbent insert inside the cover, no stuffing.  obviously, it's hard to tell which one i will like better, or will work best with my baby, until i actually have the baby, but it's nice to be able to review them beforehand as well.  also, maybe i can borrow my niece for a day and try both of them on her.  so far, i like the one-size pocket diaper best, or as my hubby calls them, the iphone of diapers.  it seems like it would hold in the poo better.  and, it's easier to insert the, um, insert i guess, into the pocket.  with the flip diaper, you kind of just lay the insert across the cover, so to me it seems a little less secure, the insert is kind of more floppy in there.  i guess we'll see how they work in a few months.  but, the thing i like better about the flip than the pocket diaper is that it seems way easier to clean.  if the cover isn't dirty then you can reuse it, if it's a little wet just wipe it off and use it again after it dries.  so, they both have things i prefer over the other, but ultimately i just want them to work well.

so, i think i'll purchase a bunch of the pocket diapers to start and after the baby is here, if i like the flip one as well then i'll just order some more of those.  that's the plan for now, anyway.
