i guess it's been awhile, hahhaa! life is BUSY! february and march tend to be busy because of midterms, finals, the Bahai fast, Bahai holy days and Ayyam-i-Ha, birthdays and on and on. we also hosted hub's family for 10 days, which is always fun. it was the best to watch z connect with the family that he doesn't see all the time. he especially was attached to his baba bozorg, who he called bapa or papa. it was adorable. and when everyone left i felt so sad. for me, the ideal situation in which to raise a family is with the loving support and guidance of our families, not in isolation. i love having the family surround Z, and he does, too. so the morning after everyone left, he was running around the house looking for them yelling "papaaaa!" "Gamaaaaa!" which broke my heart a little because that is how i felt, too. but we had a good distraction, Ayyam-i-Ha, which is a time for Baha'is to celebrate preceding the 19 day fast. i wanted to make the time special for z, so we made some gifts, decorated the house, spent time with friends, gathered food to donate to the local food bank and went to a couple celebrations. for each of the four days we got z a small gift, his favorite was the mini bundt cake though hahahahaa. let's see,
we hubs has been planting some things in the backyard, since we "slashed and burned" the ivy and a few tall trees, we are trying to plant some nice shade tolerant plants and bushes back there. some bulbs are coming up and some of our other bushes are budding. yay for spring! z is talking up a storm and cutting his 2 year molars, he recently got a little fly bike and he wants to take it with him everywhere. and his lawnmower, he also wants to take that with him everywhere. he recently learned how to ride on the big kid swing by himself and he is an adrenaline junkie! he kept saying 'faster! faster!' and of course i was terrified of pushing him higher or faster because that's my baby and what if he falls backwards and hits his little head really hard on the ground? but he didn't and he was having a blast. the weather has been unusually nice, and he has been outside as often as he can. i have been super busy with school, running the household (mainly trying to keep up with laundry. hate. it.) and working-that's right, working. did you know that i run my own photography business? maybe not, but i'll post about my new website soon. anyway, this is a busy time of year for that, heading into wedding season and all that. anyway here are some action shots of what's been going on lately:
first, Ayyam-i-Ha, we participated in a few celebrations, this one was for the kids, and z mainly tried to escape outside and play with chairs...
while all the other kids were playing games and hitting the pinata, z was content playing on chairs, hahahha |
we did a little decorating, hung a banner and lights and cut out some stars to hang from the ceiling |
i kind of love the stars hanging from the ceiling and want to leave them up all year. just kidding. kind of. |
bulbs are blooming! |
hubby chopped up wood from 3 huge trees. and stacked them like only an ocd engineer can. he is a rock star. |
my post-preggie new hair growth. after 20 months it is finally this long, a little more than mid-forehead. finally! if anyone else has had this, you know how annoying this fuzzy, hard to tame new growth is. |
studying |
found some beautiful spots on campus that i have never seen before. i think UW has one of the most scenic campuses! |
z's favorite Ayyam-i-Ha present was his mini cake. he opened the present and said 'caaaaake!' and ate it as fast as he could. |
swinging like a big boy |
so anyway, that's what's been going on. how is your spring going?
