the painted door

so i finally picked the paint color for the front door and got around to painting the inside of the door.  i still have to do the outside, but since we had to re-do some of the front porch, i am waiting until that is done first.  we had problems with water pooling on the stairs.  everything that has been updated (before our time) in this house has somehow been rigged or put together sloppily, the front porch is no exception.  it's not like a normal front porch in which two or more pieces of lumber in the form of a 2x6 or whatever dimensions are required, make up the tread (the part that you step your foot onto), and there is a small gap between the boards so that water and air can flow through.  no, no, no, our stairs are one solid piece of wood so that there is no way for the water to escape.  well thought out.
normal stairs, water can drain between the planks.  not our stairs.
but anyway, we had to fix that problem, a temporary fix until we can just rip out the steps entirely and replace with concrete.  so---i will paint the outside of the door soon.  but the inside!  i looooove it!  the color completely transforms the space and it looks so much nicer than the dingy, two-toned white on cream look that the door was painted when we bought the place.  i ended up choosing the darker of the two colors that i sampled previously; benjamin moore's wedgewood gray.  i can't wait to paint the outside!

i think i might want to paint the inside of the garage door too, the one in the hallway.  i think it will look more cohesive that way
before and after...this is when we first moved in:

and now:
i have always intended on repainting the walls of this area as well.  they are kind of a creamy yellowish beige color, a little too sepia for my taste, and after painting the door, the walls really don't go well with the whole look i am trying to pull off in here.  i think i want to paint the walls a soft, light and neutral gray (surprise!), something like this:
this color is benjamin moore's moonshine...gorgeous!  this is what it looks like on a wall:

but, that's a little ways down the road.  i also want to replace the chandy that's in the entry and maybe put some more stuff on the wall, i haven't decided yet.  i really like these chandy's and they are affordable:

anyway, that's also a ways down the road.  first i need to finish my living room!
