goodbye 2015

well, 2015 was quite a year.  now, looking back, the year went by so quickly, although there were certainly some moments where it seemed as though time was moving extra slow.  i feel like we, as a family, worked really hard this past year; i was finishing up school, z was growing and developing and gaining a little independence, and hubs busted his butt at work and picking up the slack at home during my pregnancy and while on paternity leave.  i'm hoping this year we can have a little more fun and go on some more adventures with the kiddos.  i think once things get a little more settled and the baby girl is a little bigger, we can do that.  let's see, this last year we welcomed the birth of our youngest nephew, attended some Bahai holy day celebrations, were blessed with the news that i was pregnant, i photographed the wedding of some friends, and also photographed some friends' maternity and newborn pics, engagement photos, some family photo sessions, a first birthday photo session and my best friend's pregnancy announcement pics, visited with hubs' family when they came up for a visit, i graduated earning my BS in biology, found out we were going to have a baby girl, played out in the sun during the summer, had a 2nd birthday party for Z, hosted a baby shower for my cousin, attended a baby shower thrown for me by my friends, had a little vacation in california, dealt with gestational diabetes, dressed Z up as harry potter for halloween, took a road trip to Portland, said goodbye to some really great friends as they moved to OR, had a baby, hosted thanksgiving, hosted christmas eve dinner, hubs watched star wars, and watched a lot of shows on netflix after baby sister was born, haha.  several of our friends got married and several other friends had babies or were pregnant this last year.  we worked on a few house projects like our garden, worked on turning the previously unused front living room into a multi-purpose office/lounge/play room, changed the room that was an office into the nursery for baby sister, and made Z's room into a big boy room, and then had some lighting installed, had french drainage put in the front yard, and some other boring house stuff.  looking back, here are some of my favorite moments:
we played a lot
z at 18 months
learned to ride on our bicycle
family visited us
we started throwing tantrums every now and then

played some more
worked on the yard
learned about centrifugal force

announced that we were expecting #2

it was a very warm summer for this area, and since we don't have AC, this is what we did to cool off

z is 2!!!
celebrated z's 2nd birthday
played at the spray park on really hot summer days
tended to our gardens

we harvested potatoes, lettuce, kale, tomatoes, plums, herbs, arugula, raspberries, three blueberries, broccoli, onions, squashes, carrots, dahlias, roses and some other things from our garden

we went to country village with the cousins
mama's belly got bigger
we traveled to california
and played at a really cool park in palo alto
we played at a couple of beaches in the bay area, where there is real sand!
and visited some parks overlooking the golden gate bridge and pacific ocean
we went to the aquarium with out of town friends
z helped us set up the front room furniture
we put together the front room, well, most of it...
and made z a big boy room
and ava's nursery
we took maternity photos
and mama kept getting bigger!
we walked in crunchy leaves with the bump
and picked out a pumpkin
z viisted a pumpkin patch with is bestie
we went trick or treating with our cousins and friends, and z was the cutest harry potter
z began sorting, stacking, lining up his toys, and other developmentally appropriate activities that ensure mama and baba have plenty of obstacles to trip over and clean up
we welcomed baby ava in november after a short and wonderful labor
we hosted thanksgiving
we ventured outside in the freezing cold
mama and z made lots and lots of cookies and treats for christmas
and hosted christmas eve dinner with our family
happy new year!
