a few random thoughts...that include beethoven

---beethoven's 9th symphony. listen to it in its entirety sometime. it's amazing. it's broken into 4 movements, of which 1-3 are very unique and contrasting. then in the 4th movement, beethoven brings back a snippet of the first part of movements 1-3 in a way that mimics a dialogue between the previous movement (say the first movement) and the low toned, crashing melody of the 4th movement. this then brings us to the ode to joy. the entire piece was written to articulate via music a struggle and a celebratory conclusion. when i learned this, i thought that each of the first 3 movements represented a static convention in life that isn't challenged, non-evolving and maybe even dogmatic. then in the 4th movement, the low toned instruments have this dialogue with the other movements, are almost interrupted by these previous movements, until finally, the music carries us to ode to joy. then, when i read a little bit more about it, i learned that beethoven had written this piece towards the end of his life when he was almost nearly deaf, which, for a composer is not good. also, the 4th movement is beethoven's representation of universal brotherhood. so, that totally makes sense in my mind. universal brotherhood is not a thing that just happens, it's a struggle, an ongoing dialogue and someday when this concept is realized, will be celebrated. that beethoven, what an amazing mind!
anyway. my last thing is that i shall try super hard to stop saying things like "oh my god" and "like" and "i was like". basically, to stop sounding like a teenager and start sounding like a grown, intelligent woman. who's with me?!
