got a few more things done at home

i still have a million other things to do in this house but i did knock a couple of things off my never ending to do list.  one of the things was to get a new rug for the front entryway as the one we had before was just way to small and not super functional. there are a few i have had my eye on but i am not entirely sure yet what my vision for the front entry is so before i go spending money on a rug i want to have that more solidified first.  but in the meantime i picked up this rug at target. 

 i had previously purchased this chair at target for the entryway 

you can see here how the entry just looks blah and the shoes scattered looks just no good

i heart this chair.  and target!

and i think the two complement each other well

 for fun, here are some of the entryways that i am drawn to:

i really like this ikea shoe organizer for the entry since the shoes can be hidden away but i have always envisioned a nice console table with pictures and flowers and stuff in that space:

so i don't know, i have to figure out how to make the area look nice but also be able to hold shoes in a non tacky way, part of my whole "style plus function" vision for our home.  

anyway, i was also able to hang up some art and pics above our bed:

 and have put a few more pieces together in the guest room.  you can see the nightstand that i painted, it is not quite finished yet so i will post about that another time after it is complete.  i still want to put some art and stuff on the walls and hang this mirror.  i'm not quite sure yet if i want to paint the frame or leave it black.

 so that is it for now, until i can get some more stuff done!
