Mr Z is 3...months

3 months

here we are at 3 months already. i have to say, he is much more fun at this age so far; his personality is really starting to show, he is cooing, squealing and generally exercising his vocals, he smiles and interacts and makes us laugh. he really tries to get up and go, like he has stuff to do. it is actually quite funny to watch him try and sit up while he is lying down. and he is super cute. can i say that about my own kid?

-feeding: breast feeding still, going well, he nurses about every 1-2 hours still except at night when he sleeps, and usually nurses for anywhere from 10-40 min on each side...so mama is busy!
-sleeping: sleeping through the night between 7-9 hours, i start the bedtime routine at 8 with a bath, massage, singing, jammies, nursing while lying in bed, dark room with his white noise light up turtle thingy. he finally falls asleep around 10-11 and i can't get him to sleep any sooner than that. we are working on making it earlier, but so far it's no go. naps are terrible, as i've posted about before. he just will not nap. so i pretty much do whatever i can to get him to nap for now with the hope that he will start to catch on and get on a schedule and then later i can worry about getting him to fall asleep for naps on his own. this includes nursing, rocking, walking, walking with him in the carrier, stroller rides, car rides, making a baby burrito with a pillow and bouncing or rocking him, putting him in the swing, whatever. sometimes i can get him to sleep but he ALWAYS wakes up around the 20-30 minute mark and only about 5% of the time i can get him to go back to sleep. if he was well rested during the day i wouldn't care, but he gets so tired. so we are working on naps.

-growing: he seems to still be a tall slender guy. he is gaining weight but he isn't quite baby-chunky yet. he is in his 3 and 3-6 month clothes and is almost too tall for his 3 month jammies now. i am obviously glad that he is thriving but just a tiny bit sad that he is growing so fast. this time while he is an infant really does fly by.

-developing: it is so amazing to see him learn new things on a daily basis. right now he is able to grab and pick up his favorite orange rattle ball, he grabs the wings of Jacque the Peacock in his car seat, he recently got a soft cow rattle as a gift which he holds on to and shakes really well. he is getting the reaching and grabbing thing down and he really concentrates hard when he is trying to grab something in front of him, it's pretty cute. let's see, he also tracks people with his eyes while they walk by, and cooes and screeches and squeals. he gives little giggles and is on the verge of laughing. he is very talkative in the morning. i can hear him say eh , neh, gaaa, blaaa, gooo and he just started making razz sounds with his mouth. he hates tummy time but holds his head and shoulders up really well, and he tolerates it better when propped up on the boppy. oh and he really likes chewing on his hands now.

-personality: still grumpy old man but now with glimmers of a fun, smiley and giggley little guy. he has times during the day where he plays with his ball or play gym and he is perfectly content. it is really great. i think the most appropriate word to describe my boy is intense. when he is happy, it is with intensity; when he is upset he is very upset; when he is sleepy he is extremely sleepy. he definitely will let you know loudly when he needs something as he now screams his instructions. he wants to get up, sit up and walk around. actually i read this in a parenting book and it cracked me up because it was so him, "born with more get up and go than they are able to get up and go with yet". so he keeps me on my toes.
-zabih's likes: Sophie the giraffe, his orange rattle ball, a soft cow rattle nicknamed snoopy the cow, his play gym, baths, kisses from mama, stroller rides, moving around
-dislikes: staying still, naps, loud noises, his carseat and car rides, anything that restrains him, sun in his eyes, being hungry
-his nicknames: bubba, buddy, pumpkin head, pumpkin face, pumpkin pie monkey butt, bache, smooshie, squish squish, squishy, sweetheart, grumpy butt, mr grumpy, mr z, Zabih dhabi doo, mr man, aqa mooshe, little mister, mr buddy
-me: i feel more and more confident and able to care for my buddy, and there have been so
many instances that confirm that i know my baby the best, i am having more fun with him now
that he is more playful and interactive and i just want to kiss his face off all the time, except whe he is shrieking. ;)
