a few projects for z's activity corner
so, a little bit of a lighter post. what can i say, i'm a dynamic person, haha. anyway, finals week ended last week and i immediately started on some of the projects i have on my super long to-do list. i wanted to add a couple more things to z's activity corner. when i first put his little corner together in the living room, i knew that it would be an evolving space depending on z's development and interests. i recently added a few new things to his busyboard/latchboard and i wanted to add a felt board and a velcro board. the felt board was pretty easy, i just bought a canvas and covered it with felt and then cut out some shapes from different colored felt, and command hooked it to the wall. i plan on making some more shapes and objects and whatnot to use on the felt board and maybe a little basket or something to hold them in. for the veclro board, i envisioned just a strip of wood with some velcro, but then when at michael's, i saw that they had wood letters, so i picked up a big z and used that. i adhered some sticky-backed velcro to the z and to some small wooden blocks. i may add some other stuff i find around the house, too. i didn't want the project to cost very much, so i didn't buy anything special besides just the wood letter z. anyway, we're starting to fill out the corner now:
so that's two things i wanted to knock off the list. i think i'm done updating this activity corner for now, until z indicates that it needs to be changed up again. or until he starts making artwork, then i'll hang some on the wall above the books. i'm currently working on finishing a cabinet/shelf thing for the kitchen and then painting and updating a plain ikea kitchen cart. can't wait to get this all done!
