shut the front door!

finally!  i finally painted the outside of the front door.  remember here  and here when i was trying to decide on a paint color for the door and then painted the inside?  well i finally got around to painting the outside.  we wanted to finish fixing the front porch stairs and painting them before we painted the door.  and although that got finished awhile ago, i was just now able to get to the door.  so, anyway, here it is:
sorry for the bad iphone pic, i was too lazy to pull out claude and take a real picture, but i will in the future
i heart it!  i am so smitten with this color, it's wedgewood gray by benjamin moore ( i had it color matched to valspar because i can't afford benjamin moore paint, what do they think i am? made of money?)  anyway, it's the same color i painted the inside, but it looks a little different, as i commented on the first post about door color in this post.  the lighter color, although i liked it so much, looked too washed out and green tinted next to the bright yellow color of the house, so we went for the darker color.  and actually, it reads exactly how the lighter color looked to me on the inside of the door, uninfluenced by the vibrant yellow.  anyway, i think the color is gorgeous and i think it goes so much better with the color of the house than the black.  although i think glossy black doors look very classy and classic, i did not like it with the very vibrant yellow color on the house.  and when we painted the porch gray, i really didn't like the black doors.  but now i think it looks much more inviting and the wedgewood gray color stands up nicely next to the yellow without looking too green or pale.  yay!  oh and i also removed the ugly brass kickplates on the bottom of the doors.  it looks dated, and i think removing them makes the doors look more more modern.
before with the black door

and now
don't mind the pumpkins

i love how the light color of the door contrasts with the ORB color of the lock and handle
so, i still have a million things on my to-do list for the house.  my next project to finish is this cabinet type thingy to hold cookbooks and maybe some server ware or something in the kitchen, then pimping out the ikea kitchen cart we have to use in the dining room in place of a sideboard for now, and then mounting our tv on the wall in the living room as well as making a console table to go behind the couch.  these are the things i want to get done likerightnow!  i wish i had two of me.
