happenings lately

so besides school and pregnancy, there hasn't been a ton of other things going on around here, any house projects are on hold for now although i have lots of ideas churning up in my head and on pinterest.  although hubby has been very busy making our yard and gardens look great and planting some veg, herbs, etc.  back several weeks ago hubby started planting some bulbs and some veggies and stuff, and it was looking pretty bare:
looking bare

then the sun started coming out and ta-da!  things started blooming!  i love it:
hubs cleaned up this bed, which was so cluttered looking and random. and then added bark, looks so much better now

i love the color of this rhodie

some tomatoes, herbs and strawberries

we also planted some potatoes and squashes

strawberries were starting to ripen but the squirrels got to them before we did

the cutest thing growing in our garden

got some big planters to put on the deck...and yes, the deck paint is chipping after we painted it last summer, grrr!

planted some raspberries

starting to look green!

i really like this rhodie, it's like a big puff of cotton candy

let's see, we saw the baby on ultra sound at our first midwife appointment, which is always so amazing.  this little one was moving around so much!  just like z:
hi sweet pea!

for mother's day we had some friends come over, let the kiddos run around and the hubbies made us a delicious breakfast that we ate out on the sun drenched deck:
oj with mango and seltzer

orange-cardamom french toast with berries and whipped cream, potato hash with eggs and bacon.  yum.

the card that z made me while at daycare

met up with the couple whose wedding i shot last weekend, we met up before their wedding to go over last minute details, but i was by myself and a little early so ordered a yummy hot chocolate and drank it by myself like a civilized adult.  ahhhh the small pleasures after becoming a parent:
!!!

made some homemade chicken noodle soup with the chicken stock that hubs made, it was delish.  honestly, homemade broth is the best thing.  mmmmm.  i think hipster restaurants popping up are now calling it bone soup and charging $8 for a tiny bowl.
nom

i registered for the UW graduation commencement, so it's on!  i'm excited!!!
wwwoooooohhoooooooo

now that my nausea is winding down (i think, i still get nauseous but it's not like it has been for the past 8 weeks) i no longer feel like this all the time
feeling nauseous, and just over it

and am starting to feel more human.  so that's good.  i even made us some buttermilk waffles for sunday morning breakfast!
anything i can put maple syrup on is the best
so that's about it.  hopefully after school is over i can update this blog with more exciting adventures with z, the follies and fun of more house projects and some new recipes!
