21 weeks baby 2.0

whoops, this post is a little late, this past week has been busy.  my in-laws are in town, so we are having fun visiting with them, we celebrated z's actual day of birth on the 6th and then a week later we threw a birthday party, my awesome father in law helped me paint the front room.  it's been busy.  but fun.  my mother in law so kindly watched z a lot of the days so that i could finish planning and shopping for z's birthday party, and help paint the front living room.  we spent some time with family, my sister in law came in for a few days and we ate delicious hotpot, which i have been craving since the last time i ate it, when i was 36 weeks pregnant with z, we took them to alki beach, we took z to the children's museum, just general summertime fun.  z's bday party was great, our backyard was filled with toddlers and kids running around, and our close family and friends.  z had a blast playing with the sensory tubs that we put together, playing with water, and best of all was the gift he got from our friend---a personal size battery powered fan with mister.  she is the one who watched z while i was in school so she knows exactly the kinds of things he likes.  he was having so much fun with it that he wasn't really interested in opening his presents, i kind of had to lure him over to open them.  so it was a good time.  this week baby girl has been kicking and moving around with a little more oomph, so i can feel her more often, typically in the morning and at night when i am resting.  both hubs and my mother in law got to feel her little kicks, too.  since this past week wasn't ridiculously hot, and since i had help with z, i had a lot more energy, so that was great. since we found out that we are (probably) having a girl, i started picking out some color schemes and decor and stuff for the new nursery.  the nursery won't be any particular theme, and i definitely don't want everything to be pink, so i just went with what i really liked and what looks a little bit feminine but not overly girly, and i have been drooling over these colors and style:

Modern nursery with subtle woodland touches...love this palette. I'm not pregnant. I just think this is beautiful :)

I love this, but navy and pale pink instead of coral and teal. Coral & Teal Nursery with pops of gold - so chic! #nursery

anyway, i want the nursery to be soft and pleasant and simple.  i can't wait to get started on it, but first we have to finish doing what we can in the front living room, which is where we'll be moving the office stuff.  oh, so i stumbled upon some articles about what would happen to the region if mt. rainier erupted and also the consequences and likelihood of a huge earthquake in the area along the cascadia subduction zone, and have been freaking out about it.  so i read a bunch more articles and research to see if we would be wiped out by a tsunami or buried under 30 feet of melted glacier and mud.  i think we'll be ok, but there is actually a real threat of a big earthquake in the area and a few years ago hubs and i put together 3 bins of emergency supplies--one for the house, one for each car, but they are about 5 years old now, so i want to re-do those, but stockpile more stuff, and put together emergency plans, anyway maybe it's nesting, but i really want to get it done.  and i should probably stop reading those terrifying articles.  ok, so here is the weekly update:

How far along: 21 weeks
Size of baby: about the size of a banana, 3/4 of a lb and about 10.5 inches long, is kicking and spinning all over the place, and can taste the food that i eat when baby swallows amniotic fluid
Total weight gain: not sure yet, probably about 6 lbs or so, but i have a very healthy appetite these days
Maternity clothes: both maternity and regular
Gender: girl (pretty sure)
Movement: more these days
Sleep: better
What I miss: nothing much, i have been able to tolerate a little bit of coffee lately, so i can quench that craving
Cravings: not much
Symptoms: feeling of heaviness, and being big, fatigued
Best moment this week: spending time with family, z's birthday party, and i found out some super exciting news about one of my dearest friends
