34 weeks baby 2.0

haha this is my 'i'm so over it' look, just keeping it real for you
awwww yea let's get this third trimester over with!  only 6 more weeks.  yikes.  this past week we've been finishing the nursery and z's room.  i have a few more things to do to finish the nursery and some stuff to hang in z's room.  then we'll be done.  besides just making sure we have all the stuff for baby girl's arrival like diapers and stuff.  i saw the midwife and found out that baby is head down, her heartbeat is great, and i'm still managing to control the gestational diabetes so far by diet. oh and things are progressing---softening and ripening and getting ready if you know what i mean.  we toured the place that i'll be giving birth.  we had an ultrasound of baby girl again, and got to spy on her.  she was sucking the back of her hand.  and the ultrasound tech was trying to get a picture of where the placenta was, but her little head was right on my cervix, so he kept trying to make her move.  and she did not want to move, she was cozy! haha.  he finally inverted me a bit and let gravity help out.  so we found out the low lying placenta issue is not an issue anymore. wooohoooo! oh, and she is measuring right on, so that's good!  a couple of my besties threw me a baby sprinkle over the weekend, it was nice and laid back and i ate a cupcake!  then i squeezed in a quick senior portrait photo shoot. for the past few days it's been hard for me to do stuff.  i am really getting fatigued now, and have all these aches and pains.  i am waddling like a penguin and have this sciatic pain that won't go away.  i went back and read my blog from this time with the last pregnancy, and i had the same stuff going on.  except this time i think it's more intense.  so i kind of can't wait until this pregnancy is finished and i can hold my baby girl.  z has been helping me with my various projects, and being both helpful and completely toddlerific.  he has recently been sniffing random things, which is strange enough, but then he usually declares that the object he just sniffed smells like roast beef.  i cracked up the first time he said it.  let's see, i organized z's dresser and the baby's dresser, so all that is done.  i still have a huge list of things to get done before baby comes.  oh, so for z's room i was hoping to paint blue stripes on one wall with some green accent stripes.  but it was such a debacle.  we used frog tape, which just does not stick well to textured walls.  and then the laser level i was using ran out of batteries, which are teeny tiny button cell batteries that we could not successfully procure.  so we tried taping the stripes using a measuring tape and it turned out not to work too well.  then i triedit again using the level, which worked for a little bit and was able to do some of the stripes that i wanted before the batteries wore out again.  then i decided that what i was able to tape was good enough and started to paint.  then after i pulled the tape off after the second coat, i was horrified to see that the paint had bled through the tape edges.  then i said screw it, we'll paint the wall solid blue. then hubs said let's find a way to fix it.  we talked about taping the edge of the stripe and painting over the bleed through with white.  i tried it on a small section.  the white bled through on the stripe, of course.  stupid tape.  so then i took a teeny tiny angle brush and just touched up the edges of the damn stripes by hand.  it took about 4 hours and it was the worst.  but it's done.  so, minoo, you would be proud of me, i only did about 1/3 of what i planned on doing! hahahaha.  anyway then we moved all z's stuff back in his room and now he won't fall asleep or stay asleep very well in his big boy bed even though he's been sleeping fine in it for the past 2 weeks in the nursery.  oh well.  i'm sure he'll get used to it.  but he loves his room and how much open floor space there is now.  he jumps off his mattress onto the floor "like a frog".  it's great.  i'll post the pics of his room and the nursery when they are done.  maybe in a couple of weeks.  anyway, here's the weekly update:
z and his baby sister
How far along: 34 weeks

Size of baby: the size of a cantaloupe or a pineapple, about 19-22 inches long and 4.5-5 lbs, lungs and central nervous system are maturing
Total weight gain: up 29 lbs, i gained 3 lbs in the past 3 weeks
Gender: girl
Movement: during her active periods she moves around sooooo much
Sleep: not too great right now, z has been waking up a lot at night, i have had bad heartburn, and just generally uncomfortable
What I miss: having energy
Cravings: still carbs.  not even really anything decadent, although i would love to eat some cake, but even just more fruit and bread.  i have cut back a lot on my carbs to control this GD and it leaves me hungry and craving some biscuits.  oh, and still can't get enough crushed ice!
Symptoms: pretty much the same, have a little bit of swelling, sciatica and extra emotional, which is the same as last pregnancy
Best moment this week: baby sprinkle!  and making some good progress on the nursery and z's room, and seeing baby girl on ultrasound and hearing that the pregnancy and baby are healthy

here is the final product of the stripes, originally the rest of the wall would have smaller blue stripes, but it just didn't work out that way and i am ok with that now.

finished the bird mobile for the nursery

organized baby's clothes
reorganized z's dresser drawers

z enjoying his new room setup

some of the lovely baby sprinkle, of course most of the pictures i took were of the food ahahahaha
