35 weeks baby 2.0

i can't believe that in about a month our baby girl will be here!  eeeeeek!  i'm all over the place with emotions: excited, nervous, a little scared, overwhelmed.  i can't wait to meet this little one.  today i was thinking about going through labor and was thinking "ugh!"  it's some serious work.  i am just so tired right now.  in the last two weeks i have gained 4 lbs!  and i have had such a nasty cold for the past week that doesn't seem to really be getting much better yet.  maybe in a couple more days.  hopefully.  i think i'm feeling this tired because of being sick.  i hope that i perk up a bit soon.  this past week we pretty much finished all the major things for the nursery and z's room, and then i worked on some small projects.  so the rooms are pretty much done.  not completely because i still have to make a blanket for z's new bed and a blanket and crib skirt for the nursery.  then everything will be all complete!  wooooohooooo!  we took a little road trip to Portland over the weekend to attend a friend's baby shower, and between me being so miserable and z being toddlerific, it was kind of not so much fun.  the baby shower was great, but the rest of the trip, especially the driving was terrible.  z refused to nap in the car on the way there and back, so he basically just whined and cried and threw tantrums in the car, which was super fun for us.  i was hoping that it would be a fun, spur of the moment thing that we could do, but it didn't turn out as i had hoped.  oh well.  i saw the midwife this week.  everything with the baby is fine, but she suggested i have a consult with an OB regarding my blood glucose---my levels have been all over the place since i've been sick and she wants to make sure that everything is ok.  which is annoying.  but we'll see what the OB says next week.  so yea, the week has not been super exciting, i've mostly been staying at home because of this cold, and i just feel soooooo tired and sick.  i want to get healthy so that all is well for this baby to come soon!  we have a couple more things to do like getting the infant car seat out of storage and i think i might pack a hospital bag soon just in case, things like that.  i am feeling so super big and uncomfortable, my emotions are running all over the place.  i remember when i was pregnant with z, i felt mostly calm and patient, i figured that z would probably come past my due date but was ok with whenever that happened.  this time around i definitely am feeling impatient, ready for the pregnancy to be done.  i get it now when other women have said the same thing.  anyway, i obviously want the baby to come when she is supposed to, but if that could be a week or two before her due date and she is healthy, that would be nice.  hahaha.  we'll see what happens.  can't wait til this cold is done and i can feel somewhat normal again!  ok, so here is the weekly update and some pics of the nursery and z's room:
How far along: 35 weeks
Size of baby: the size of a large cantaloupe or a honeydew, she's almost 20 inches long and maybe about 5.5 lbs, since all the basic physical structures are developed, she just needs to gain weight and her lungs need to continue to mature
Total weight gain:  up 33 lbs
Gender: girl
Movement: less jabby kicks and punches and more rolling movements, like she is changing positions---she is running out of room
Sleep: because of the horrible cold i have, sleep as been elusive.  i can't breathe at night and am uncomfortable and have to pee several times a night
What I miss: being comfortable
Cravings: seriously craving carbs, and crushed ice
Symptoms:  some swelling now in my hands and feet, actually, i think everywhere, extremely tired, emotional, lots of aches and pains....but i keep repeating that it is worth it as long as baby is healthy

Best moment this week: hearing baby's heartbeat, seeing out of town friends
here's z's room:

the frames are very secure---i put them on the wall with nails and command strips, which have proven to hold up to kids since i used them for the activity corner in the living room

name art i made for z

reading corner for z under his leaf

his toys and board books are now accessible to him

still waiting to find a lamp to put on the top of this dresser, to the left of the pictures

i got these curtains from ikea and then used a fabric marker to color in some of the leaves

closet with lower dowels so that z can reach his clothes and dress himself when he is able
we went with a floor bed, Montessori style for now
i am happy with the way the room turned out, but the best thing is that z loves his big boy room.  when i hung up his leaf canopy he said "it's my birthday!!!"

the baby's room

in this little bird cage are a bunch of headbands---at the baby shower the activity was to make these headbands and then write a message to the baby on the attached tag...love it!

my friend made these super cute animals!  wooohoooo!

 my great grandma's teapot china
name art for the baby

part of the fabric banner i made

one of my favorite things in the nursery is this artwork---though she be but little she is fierce, by shakespeare

part of the bird mobile i made.  the stick that i used to hang the birds from is a piece of driftwood that hubs and i found at a beach at orcas island, we brought it home because we liked it, and now i get to put it to use.  hahha.
anyway, so that's it.  i'm pleased with how the rooms turned out and am so glad that they are done.  except for the blankets.  but that shouldn't be too difficult.  i'll show some before and after pictures of the rooms, cause i think it would be fun to see the transformation.
