29 weeks baby 2.0

this last week flew by and was so packed.  i'm sure i'll be saying that every week until i'm 50.  over the weekend hubs and i were able to make a trip to pick up some of the big furniture we needed to put together the front room, the nursery and z's room.  it was exhausting and when we got back, it looked as though a tornado ripped through the area, there was apparently a wind storm and trees had fallen over, huge tree branches were strewn all over our yard, on our plants, the roof, all over.  it was crazy.  and because we were navigating our way through ikea, we had no idea, so it was quite a surprise, hahahha!  anyway, so i had some trouble trying to figure out all of the details for the nursery and z's room.  i knew in general what i wanted the rooms to look like and function as, but i couldn't get everything completely planned out.  i blame pregnancy brain.  anyway, for z's big boy room i wanted the colors to be something like this;
Silver Safari. Love the #navy and #lime stripes for a little boy's #nursery.: Silver Safari. Love the #navy and #lime stripes for a little boy's #nursery.

i wanted to have a wall of dark blue stripes like this:
Stripes plus neutral: Stripes plus neutral

and i wanted some montessori elements, like a floor bed, a closet in which z will be able to access his clothes, and a low shelving system so that he can reach his books and toys.  right now, some of his toys and all of his books are up high, so he can't reach them himself.  so we'll change that.  so i knew how i wanted to make that happen, but then i couldn't find any bedding that i liked, or that wasn't ridiculously priced, and then i searched all over the place for fabric to make something myself, but couldn't find anything i liked.  and then FINALLY! i found some super cute fabric that will go perfectly, i plan on making a big blanket for z's new bed:
i super love this fabric
now having that nailed down, i feel like i can proceed.  i planned on painting the room from its yellow-beige current color to white with the blue striped accent wall.  but now i'm thinking, is white too boring?  i never paint walls white now that i have my own house.  if i paint the 3 blank walls something other than white, what would it be?  something not too overpowering, that will endure for the next 10 or so years, that isn't too bold or trendy or boring.  gray is the first thing that comes to mind, but by the end of this, all the rooms in the house will be gray!  maybe i paint the walls white and then paint the closet door a fun green?  or is that too much?  maybe i can extend one of the stripes across the other walls continuously?  i just don't know.  so i have some thinking to do about that.  but that's pretty much the only dilemma i have for z's room.  now for the nursery, i posted about that a couple weeks ago, my vision and color preferences.  there was this one fabric that i really loved, but could only find it on etsy and at $30 per yard, i sadly decided to let it go.  i was sad because it had all the colors i wanted:

so i struggled for awhile trying to find a new fabric that would anchor everything else, the accent fabric and the art and stuff i envisioned.  i kept telling myself, 'just pick something!!! it's not that difficult!', i just could not make a decision!  and then hubs said, "just pick something!"  so i finally got it together and picked this combination:

the fabric on the left really caught my eye the first (and subsequent) time(s) i saw it and it was easy to coordinate other fabrics with, in addition to the fact that i already own that gray chevron fitted sheet, so it was kind of a no brainer.  i ordered the fabric on the left, enough to make a crib skirt, and then found something similar to the mint colored fabric at joann's and it was on really good sale because of labor day----huzzah!!!  ok, that's all figured out, now i just need to figure out what color to paint the nursery walls!!!!!  all the furniture will be white, so i don't want to paint the walls white.  of course my first instinct is to choose a nice, soft, light gray, but again, do i want everything in the house to be gray?  should i branch out and try something fun?  pink on the walls would piss me off, yellow wouldn't really go with the scheme in mind, maybe i can find a nice, soft, subtle, not-annoying light and airy greenish-blue?  i will see.  i have some paint swatches that i will get samples of to slap up on the wall and see what i like best.  besides, that, i have all the decor planned out in my head.  i bought fabric to make baby's blanket, and some paper to make a couple fun craft/arty things to put on the walls.  but the first priority right now is the front room.  we put together the bookcases and this weekend will find the moulding and trim and wood to trim it out and make it look built in rather than cheap ikea bookcases against the wall.  we put the office furniture in the front room and it's all starting to look better!  like a real room!  we still have lots of things to do and to purchase, but we just want to get the basics done and get all the office stuff in the front room and out of the nursery.  so yea, the next several weeks will be so busy!  and i'm so slow these days!
furniture in our front room!

it's amazing to me how much curtains can do for a room---makes it look so much more cozy!
we're getting there

the "built ins", we'll be putting those rocking chairs somewhere else, also i decided to put the desk in front of the window, i like the way it looks better

keeping it real, this is what the other side of the room looks like right now.  it's a mess.  i like to pretend it doesn't exist for now.
paper for crafty things for the nursery!
fabric for baby girl's blanket

sweet little face
oh! but that's not the most exciting thing about this week.  we had another ultra sound to check on the low lying placenta situation (still too low for now but should continue to move up), and we got to verify that this baby is indeed a girl!  wooohoooo! and we got to see her sweet little self making suckling movements with her mouth and trying to get her hand or thumb in her mouth but punching herself in the nose instead.  it was pretty great.  let's see, she has been very active, especially when i'm trying to go to sleep.  sometimes she sticks her head or butt or a a foot out so far, it's painful.  and sometimes it seems like she is jumping around because all of a sudden my entire belly will jump upwards by several inches.  it's pretty crazy.  z has been for the most part still in a pretty good mood this week, even though he is fighting the cold that me and hubs got sick with.  he has been such a happy, playful, loving little guy for the most part.  it makes the day go by so much easier, and is very enjoyable.  and he is talking so much, he always has but now it's like i'm talking with a five year old or something, carrying on conversations and being amazed at how much he picks up and comprehends.  it's been fun.  alright, so here's the weekly preggie update:
