30 weeks baby 2.0

ten more weeks.  what the?! it seems like a long time but also not that far away.  i am already feeling the third trimester bigness.  i am definitely waddling. short of breath. leg, hand and feet cramps.  and all the other things that the third trimester has to offer.  this past week has been a little rough, i'm getting over a cold, am feeling very tired physically, am emotional and grumpy.  z was just being a typical two year old so of course there are challenges, and i am trying hard to be patient but only succeed sometimes. but there have been moments where he is absolutely delightful. over the long weekend hubs and i tried to get some stuff done including working on the front room, scraping the popcorn ceiling in the nursery, checking out new vehicles, and lots more.  during the week hubs has been working on removing the popcorn from the nursery ceiling, cleaning it all up and then finishing with texture, primer and paint.  i have had a few appointments and been trying to work on finishing the faux built in ikea bookcases.  they are nearly done, then i can start organizing the office supplies and whatnot into them and get that room organized.  i need to pick a paint color for the nursery, paint it, and get the furniture moved in.  i have all the fabric now for the blankets for both kids, so i can hopefully get started in those soon (mom---this includes you and your sewing machine :). ) lots to do! i had my glucose test this week and the midwife called to tell me i have gestational diabetes so have to meet with a nutritionist and then a nurse to learn about putting together an appropriate meal plan and learn how to check my blood sugar four times a day.  i am so annoyed that i have GD but the midwife reassured me it's not due to indulging too much or eating improperly.  she said it is likely because of my age. i was checking out some of the sample menus for GD and it is honestly not that different than how i am normally eating except switching in whole grain pasta and brown rice for refined pasta and rice.  and i do snack a little bit on things like crackers or a cookie or Popsicle, but nothing out of control, so it will be interesting to talk to the nutritionist to see what we come up with. so that's no fun.  oh and my iron level is a little low, so gotta fix that, too.  baby girl has been continuing to be a little wiggle worm, moving around lots.  she does this thing now where she sticks out her butt soooooo far out right next to my belly button, it's kind of uncomfortable and sometimes painful.  she is, of course, extremely active when i am trying to fall asleep, kicking the hell out of me.  but it's all good.  i am so excited to learn what kind of personality she has and see what she looks like when the time comes.  with z, i knew he was going to be active and headstrong.  with baby girl i'm not so sure, maybe she will be more mellow but assertive when she needs to be.  it will be great watching these two grow up together.  i feel like she might come a little earlier than her due date and hubs and i have been talking about what to do if i am in labor while stuck in traffic and other unfavorable situations.  honestly i feel like i could give birth any time now what with all the braxton hicks and pressure and fatigue, i feel so much further along than 30 weeks. hopefully this last ten weeks will go by easily!

How far along: 30 weeks
Size of baby: the size of a cucumber (must be length huh?) or large head of cabbage, baby is about 17 inches long and around 3 lbs, getting bigger every day and little brain is developing like crazy
Total weight gain: haven't been to the midwife
yet, but i am guessing around 25lbs

Gender: sweet baby girl
Movement: lots of moving, making my belly look like a tennis ball is protruding out one side
Sleep: have been waking up in the middle of the night for some reason or another only to not be able to go back to sleep for awhile, it's also very hard to get comfortable these days
What I miss: being able to move around without grunting
Cravings: just any kind of food, i was craving toasted chonga bagels with cream cheese and pumpkin spice lattes from starbucks---must be the crispy weather
Symptoms: surprisingly, i haven't had heartburn as bad this time around as with z so that's good, i am hungry a lot but get full quickly, am grumpy and irritable, cramping in my hands, feet and legs, tired and sluggish, lots of pubis symphysis pain and pressure on my cervix, lots of braxton hicks, a lot of the things that i had closer to the end of the pregnancy with z
Best moment this week:  getting some stuff done with hubs over the weekend, and taking pictures of my bestie and her hubby on the beautiful, sunny holiday
