a new ottoman

so, a little while back i had posted about getting rid of the coffee table (or storing it for awhile) and replacing it with an ottoman, in the living room.  mostly because my son is toddling age and i'm terrified that he's going to slam eyeball first into the deadly metal and glass corners and edges of the coffee table.  i had some that were contenders.  i went back and forth on some of them, i continued to scour the internet and stores for reasonably priced fabric storage ottomans of the appropriate dimensions.  i put masking tape on the floor in the living room to use as a place holder in order to get a better visual of the size of the finalists.  it came down to the idea ottoman, but when i taped down the dimensions on the floor it didn't look big enough, so i decided that i would buy two.  i finally made the trek down to ikea with my friend and checked out the ottomans, specifically the kivik model.  in the store it looked so much bigger than the taped dimensions on the floor of my living room, so i decided to just buy one and if it seemed too small in my place, then i would get a second.  so i lugged it inside, assembled it, moved the coffee table to store for now, and proceeded to fill the storage area with all the things that have been residing on the back of my couch for a few months, while baby z chastised me because he wanted to sit in the storage area of the ottoman instead.  anyway, i think it works well in this space.  it's functional, it looks good, it won't maim my son.  i chose the isunda beige color because i think it works well with the colors that are already in the living room, and if/when we move it to a different room when i no longer have little ones running around, it is neutral enough to go with pretty much anything. so, here it is:

oh yea, crisis averted!  now, to just get some shelves on the wall above the couch and fill with framed pictures, find 4 identical square/rectangular mirrors to hang above the fireplace, and figure out if i want to mount the tv and surround by shelves or leave it as is and decorate the wall behind and above it and figure out a way to childproof the entertainment center area.  oh, and replace the tile around the fireplace, and build and install a mantel.  wooohooo!
