17 weeks
this week has flown by. especially this 3 day weekend. my brother in law and his wife came into town to visit with us, so our weekend was spent stuffing our cheeks full of delicious foods, as is our custom whenever we get together. and shopping. so it was pretty much the best weekend. they came bearing gifts for the lil peanut. i tell you, this little one is already so spoiled loved. there hasn't really been a change in the pregnancy from last week to this week as far as how i'm feeling and it looks like my belly is pretty much the same. but i feel large. i've never been this large in the midsection before, so it's interesting when things happen that i've never experienced, like when sitting how my belly touches my thighs. i really need to start exercising, i need to make it a priority. i'd like to start swimming, so i'll have to figure out if the open swim near me is going to work as far as schedule goes. and i think i'll start doing some pregnant-lady yoga. it's also time to start researching birthing classes and signing up for those. any suggestions? has anyone done a class such as hypnobirthing, lamaze, etc? if so, please tell me about it!
How far along: 17 weeks
Size of baby: the size of an onion, a little over 5 inches and nearly 6 ounces in weight---the cartilage is turning to bone, peanut is gaining some weight, practicing yawning, twisting, rolling, kicking, punching, the nervous system is maturing with myelin covering the nerves (except at the nodes of ranvier, which i learned it physiology hehehehe), the senses are further specializing and the hearing is becoming more acute.
Total weight gain: i just weighed myself and am up 2 lbs from last week, which could either mean my scale is whack, or i actually did gain 2 lbs from the extreme eating we did this weekend. who knows. so right now i'll say up 6 lbs from normal weight.
Maternity clothes: still trying to squeeze into my normal pants, but this is becoming increasingly uncomfortable. also wearing maternity pants and stretchy pants.
Gender: will find out on valentine's day
Movement: movement is becoming stronger and i can feel it more often
Sleep: good. bought a snoogle, which is a pregnancy pillow. it's nice.
What I miss: nothing really important
Cravings: things that are salty, fruits, craved salad this weekend, french fries from mcdonald's (i neeeeevvvvver eat here, but damn those fries sound so good right now---warm, salty, delicious)
Symptoms: same stuff as always, but this week i started getting heartburn and major gas bubbles (at least that's what it feels like) in my esophagus after eating large meals, oh and i have been very stuffy for the past several weeks which is apparently due to the fact that my sinuses are swollen because of the extra blood volume. hmmm, who knew?
Best moment this week: spending time with my brother and sister in law and eating and cooking delicious food together!
